The Cutchi Memon Jamat of North America (CMJNA) was founded in 1992, and was determined by the US Internal Revenue Service to be a tax-exempt organization. Our TIN is 13-3762107.
CMJNA's current President is Dr. Rehana Shakur.
Our Secretary General is Arif G. Kadwani.
CMJNA attempts to propagate among Cutchi Memons in the US the need to financially assist less fortunate Cutchi Memons and others around the world. It collects zakat in the holy month of Ramadan, and distributes such funds, in a timely manner, to Cutchi Memon and other organizations in India and Pakistan to help needy and deserving Cutchi Memons.
CMJNA seeks to maintain affiliation and identity with Cutchi Memon associations around the world. It maintains such ties of friendship and camaraderie so that it achieves its aim of retaining the Cutchi Memon heritage and culture in the US. Cutchi Memons are found in large numbers in India and Pakistan, and, to a lesser extent, in some countries of Africa.
CMJNA projects the Cutchi Memon culture in the US by promoting a better understanding of the myriad world cultures.
We meet once every trimester to socialize and interact. Future meetings will be publicized here and by snail mail/email to all interested members.
